| Fred and his Non-Pros traveled to Mt. Vernon, Mo. for the Memorial Weekend Show. It was hot,
hot, hot and so were the results. Fred was the Reserve Champion in the Novice Horse Open Class on ARC Acustom To Please and One Smart Sailor and was Reserve Champion in the Intermediate Open Class. Julie Vosberg was the Champion in the Non-Pro, Int, and Ltd Non-Pro on Sat. and also the Ltd Non Pro Champion on Sunday. Whitney Cooper placed 2nd and 3rd in the ladies classes and Kendra Cooper placed 3rd in the Rookie on Sat. Drexall Swan was 2nd in the Mens Class. Sharon Martin won the Prime Time Rookie class on Sat. and Joan Carter won it on Sunday. Everyone did an excellent job showing and a great time was had by all, as usual!! Fred is showing One Smart Request and One Smart Sailor down at the NRHA Derby in OK City in a few weeks. Then to Lincoln, Neb. in August to start the fall 3 yr old Futurities!!

| What a great showing Fred and his students had at St. Louis. Some goals were achieved and alot of fun was had!! Fred won the Open and Intermediate Open on "One Smart Request" and won the championship on "One Smart Sailor" in the Novice Horse Open I and II on Sunday. Both horses marking 73 1/2 scores. Julie Vosberg, Cindy Johnson, and Gene Jernigan tied for the championship in the Non-Pro on Sat. Cindy won the flip and won her first pewter trophy on "KRK A Lil Sugar", trained by Fred and previously owned by Eby Horse Company. Way to go Cindy and "Shaq". Julie Vosberg was also reserve Champion on Sunday on "Magnifichic" with an impressive ride. Julie and "Maggie" were awesome both days . Magnifichic was also trained by Fred and Julie purchased her from Eby Horse Company. In the Rookie Classes, Kendra Cooper rode Traditional Fudge to the championship in Rookie II both days, marking a 72.5 on Sunday . Congratulations, Kendra, what a great ride and weekend!! Sharon Martin also was in the top 5 in the Rookie I Division. Sharon and "Lefty" were great in the showpen both days as were Paula Eichman and "Laynie". Kendra's daughter, Whitney, showed in the Green Rider classes winning the Reserve Championship both days and showed in the Ladies classes placing 3rd both days. Way to go Whitney. Her and "Texas" are becoming an awesome team. Fred was very proud of his students and those horses he has trained and sold to go on to have such great show careers and talented new owners. The next reining show is in Mt. Vernon at the end of May. Check back for more results!! | Fred and part of his team traveled to Lincoln,Nebraska to the Big Red Reining Challenge April 16-18. Held at Lancaster Event Center, what a great facility and the Central Plains Reining Horse Association always puts on a great reining show. There was great hospitality and it was a really fun show. Fred rode One Smart Request to the Open and Intermediate Open championship on Friday and also rode him to a Reserve Championship in the Open and Limited Open Derby on Saturday. Congratulations to Dave and Linda Koch - Smartie has another great show. Way to go Fred!!!
Fred coached Kendra Cooper and Traditional Fudge to a Reserve Championship in the Rookie II Division in the first show and was Champion in the Prime Time Rookie Division. Also, on the first show, Julie Vosberg-Newell rode Magnifichic to a Championship in the Non-Pro and Intermediate Non-Pro divisions and tied for the Reserve Championship with Kendra in the Limited Non-Pro and Prime Time Divisions. Great job girls. Drexall Swan made a great showing in the green class on Whirling Dervish, placing 6th. Way to go, Drexall. | Fred and his team headed to Topeka March 19-21 for a very, very cold weekend for the Kansas Reining Horse Association March Madness Reining Horse Show and Derby. Fred rode One Smart Request to the Championship in the Limited Open Derby, and to the Reserve Championship in the Open and the Intermediate Open Derby. Photos coming soon. Also on Sat. night Gene Jernigan won the Non-Pro Derby on KSU Slidin Shiny Kid. Congratultions Gene, Judy, and "Slider"
On Saturday the show started out with the Green Rider class and Whitney Cooper and Texas Star Time were the Reserve Champions. This was only Whitneys 2nd NRHA reining show. Also Ashley Hawlander rode Little Bit to 4th place both days. This was Ashley's 1st ever reining show, way to go girls!! Drexall Swan also showed Whirling Dervish in the Green class with much improvement.
Next up in the Rookie classes on Sat. Paula Eichman showed Smart Laynie Lena to a 4th place on Sat. and was Reserve Rookie I champion on Sunday and placed 3rd in the Rookie II scoring a 70. Also in the Rookie I Sharon Martin riding Rawhides Yeso marked at 69 for 3rd place. Congratulations to Paula and Sharon for marking your best scores ever!! Chris Fahrenholz and Hooray For Hollywood made their debut in the Rookie Classes. Great job, Chris and "Louie", they tied for 6th on Sunday and were 7th place on Saturday. Kendra Cooper won the Rookie II on both Sat and Sunday on Traditional Fudge. Congratulations , you all did a great job!!
In the Novice Horse Open classes, on Sat. Fred was 3rd on Jac N Crome and on Sunday was Reserve Champion in the Novice Open I and 3rd place in the Novice Open II on One Smart Sailor. Fred was Reserve Champion in the Novice Horse Open II on One Smart Request.
Julie Vosberg rode Magnifichic to the Championship in the Non-Pro, Intermediate Non-Pro and Limited Non-Pro classes as well as the Novice Non-Pro I on Sunday. Great job to Julie and "Maggie" what an awesome pair!!
Joan Carter and Leofritzs Baby Boots placed 3rd on Sunday in the PT Non-Pro class. Joan and "Baby" looked awesome at the show.
Gwyn Haskins rode Hickorys Top Chic to a 2nd place tie in the Limited Non-Pro and to 3rd place in the Non-pro and 4th place in the Intermediate Non-Pro on Sat. Great job Gwyn and "Grace".
Cindy Johnson made her debut on KRK A Little Sugar and was Champion in the Novice Horse Non-Pro II on Sat and was Reserve Champion in the Novice Horse Non-Pro I on Sat. Great job, Cindy and "Shaq".
It was a miserably cold weekend, but it was a great show and The Berschauer Barn had a great time cheering everyone on in the showpen. The next show we will be attending is in Lincoln, Nebraska, in April. Should be a great Derby with ancillary classes. Check back for show results from Lincoln. |

| The MRHA Autumn Slide and Futurity was held in
St. Louis , MO October 17-18. Fred and his horses and riders had a great show. On Sat. Fred won the Open and Intermediate Open on "Pines Topsail Star", owned by Glen and Denise Hatch. Fred and "One Smart Request" were Reserve Champions in the Open and Intermediate Open Class. Whitney Cooper showed "Texas Star Time" in her very first reining show and was 3rd in the Ladies class. Chris Fahrenholz and "Hooray For Hollywood" were 4th in the Ladies Class and 5th in the Green Class. On Sunday Fred showed two three year olds in the futurity and they were Co-Reserve Futurity Champions . His Reserve Futurity Champions were "One Smart Sailor", owned by Louis Koch and "Mr Peppy Jo", owned by Bill Sprawls. He was Reserve Champion in the Open and Intermediate Open on "One Smart Request", owned by Dave and Linda Koch. Fred won the Green Horse Class on Drexall Swan's horse ,"Whirling Dervish." Whitney and "Texas" were 3rd in the Green Class on Sunday and Chris and "Louie" were 4th. Paula Eichman had another great weekend showing "Smart Laynie Lena". This was only their second show together. Congratulations to all of the riders and owners adding another successful show to the 2009 show season. Watch for One Smart Request at the AQHA World Show in the Jr. Reining preliminaries on Monday, Nov. 16th and for Custom Pistolena and Jac N Crome at the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma City starting Nov. 26th. | The KRHA Sunflower Slide Reining Show was held in Topeka, KS Sept. 25-27.The first day Fred and ONE SMART REQUEST were Intermediate Open Champions and were 4th in the Open. On Sunday they were Reserve Champions in the Intermediate Open and 3rd in the Open. Congratulations to Fred and the owners Dave and Linda Koch. On Sat. night Fred rode CUSTOM PISTOLENA (palomino in photo below) to a 3rd place finish in the Limited Open Futurity for 3 year olds and was 5th in the Intermediate Open Futurity. Paula Eichman and SMART LAYNIE LENA made their maiden reining run Friday, doing a great job. (See photo below) Paula and Laynie were 5th in the Green Rookie reining on Sunday. Congratulations to this awesome duo. They had a great weekend at their first show together. Fred rode WHIRLING DERVISH owned by Drexall Swan to 1st and 2nd place finishes in the green horse classes and placed 1st and 4th on MR PEPPY JO, owned by Wm. and Betty Sprawls in the green horse classes. | "PINES TOPSAIL STAR" owned by Glen and Denise Hatch, was the American Royal AQHA Reining Circuit Champion earning 1st place under all 4 judges in Kansas City this past weekend. Fred also showed him in the Open Reining Jackpot Sat. night and was the Reining Champion. "Tommy" is on his way to being qualified in the Open Junior Reining at the 2010 AQHA World Show. |

| The CPRHA SANDHILLS SLIDE REINING SHOW WAS HELD AT BROKEN BOW, NEBRASKA.
Fred showed three of his 3 year olds in the futurity classes. Congratulations to ONE SMART SAILOR, in his first showing, he was Reserve Champion in the Sire Stakes Futurity. Congratulations to owner, Louis Koch, of Iowa.
JAC N CROME was 3rd place in the Open and Intermediate Open Divisions in the futurity and CUSTOM PISTOLENA was 4th place in the Open and Intermediate Open Divisions of the 3 year old futurity class.
Fred showed PINES TOPSAIL STAR to a 3rd place in the Open Derby and also was 3rd place in the Novice Horse Open. Congratulations to Glen and Denise Hatch, owners.

MR BAY JEWEL was the Reserve Reining Champion at the Solid Breed APHA World Show last month. "Barney" was raised by Susan Berschauer and trained here at Berschauer Performance Horses by Fred and his assistants. He was sold right before his show career as a 3 year old. His dam "Boots Painted Jewel" was previously owned by Don and Judie Eby and in the Eby Horse Company broodmare band. |
